A Oregon Coast Engagement Session
There’s something magical about an engagement session at the beach. The sound of the waves, salty ocean air, wind in your hair, and plenty of room to simply slow down and enjoy being together.
An engagement session is already a wonderful way to celebrate this season of your relationship, but taking it to the Oregon Coast adds an entirely different kind of adventure.
For this sweet couple, we headed to the beach for their engagement photography session, creating a mix of romantic portraits, playful moments, and those quiet little in-between moments that make their relationship uniquely theirs.
Why Choose the Beach for Your Engagement Photos?
If you're considering an Oregon Coast engagement session, DO IT.
Beach sessions give you so much variety without needing to travel between locations. We can start with more traditional portraits, wander along the shoreline, play in the sand, and let the waves and landscape become part of the story.
And honestly? You don't have to be comfortable in front of the camera.
Most couples tell me they're nervous about having their picture taken. My job isn't to expect you to magically know what to do with your hands. 😂
I'll give you direction when you need it, but I'll also give you plenty of opportunities to simply interact with each other.
Walk together. Laugh. Snuggle. Chase each other. Get your feet wet.
Those moments often end up being my favorites.
Engagement Photos Are About More Than Just the Photos
One of my favorite reasons to recommend an engagement session is that it gives us a chance to get comfortable working together before your wedding day.
Wedding days move quickly. There are timelines, family portraits, details, guests, vendors, and approximately 47 people asking where they're supposed to be at any given moment.
Your engagement session is different.
There's no wedding-day timeline. No pressure. Just the two of you.
It's a chance for you to see how I work, get comfortable being directed, and learn that having your picture taken doesn't have to feel awkward.
Then when your wedding day arrives, having me photograph you won't feel quite so unfamiliar.
What Should You Wear for a Beach Engagement Session?
When planning outfits for an Oregon Coast engagement session, think comfortable, coordinated, and movement-friendly.
Long dresses and skirts photograph beautifully in the ocean breeze, while neutral colors and soft earth tones complement the natural surroundings.
A few of my favorite tips:
Choose coordinating colors rather than identical outfits.
Bring layers—the Oregon Coast can change quickly!
Consider bringing two outfits if you'd like more variety.
Avoid extremely busy patterns or large logos.
Wear shoes you can comfortably walk in.
And don't be afraid to get a little sandy!
Most importantly, choose something that makes you feel like you.
Oregon Coast Engagement Photography
As an Oregon wedding photographer, I love photographing couples in meaningful places throughout Oregon, including the Oregon Coast, Portland, Oregon City, and surrounding areas.
Your engagement session doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
Maybe it's the beach.
Maybe it's the place you had your first date.
Maybe it's hiking somewhere beautiful.
Maybe it's grabbing coffee and wandering around town.
Wherever you feel most like yourselves is a great place to start.
Because years from now, these photographs won't just remind you what you looked like while you were engaged.
They'll remind you how it felt to be in love, waiting for the next chapter to begin.
